Map4’s Illinois E-Rate pricing snapshot puts the 1G median MRC at $800 per month. For telecom carrier sales teams and public-sector buyers comparing dedicated internet access (DIA), the speed-group breakdown offers a practical reference for the next proposal or broadband budget.
Snapshot: October 23, 2026. MRC means monthly recurring charge.
Illinois median MRC by speed group
| Speed group | Provider rows | Median MRC per month |
|---|---|---|
| Below 1G | 32 | $462.50 |
| 1G | 19 | $800.00 |
| 1G to 2G | 4 | $1,300.00 |
| 2G to 5G | 3 | $2,775.00 |
| 10G to 50G | 3 | $2,086.34 |
Method: These figures are medians of provider-level median MRCs, with equal weight per selected provider row—not pooled circuit medians. The service mix can include WAN and multi-site services.
What the $800 1G figure means
The middle value among the 19 selected provider medians is $800 a month. The table gives sales and procurement teams a reference for comparing monthly charges alongside the details of a proposed service.
For a useful comparison, match the bandwidth, location, service scope and contract terms. A single-location DIA quote and a multi-site WAN proposal can have very different economics, even when they appear in the same speed group.
Use the snapshot in your next proposal
- Compare like with like. Before preparing an RFP response or broadband budget, confirm bandwidth at each location, internet access versus private WAN, service-level commitments, contract term and managed services. For fiber optic proposals, separate monthly service from construction and installation charges.
- Look beyond the speed label. The 10G-to-50G median is below the 2G-to-5G median. Both groups contain only three provider rows with different service mixes, so compare the underlying scope rather than treating the table as a simple price ladder.
- Check the buyer's actual monthly cost. Confirm taxes, bundled components and E-Rate discounts in the location-specific quote before estimating the buyer's share.
